KARACHI: Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) on Thursday arranged an elaborate programme to commemorate 68th Independence Day at its Ojha campus.
The Ceremony started with playing of national anthem and flag-hoisting by Pro Vice Chancellor of the university Prof Umer Farooq, along with Prof Junaid Ashraf, Principal of Dow Medical College and Prof M Masroor, Principal of Dow International Medical College.
Prof M Umer Farooq on the occasion paid glowing tributes to martyrs, workers and leaders of the Pakistan movement.
“Their sacrifices paved way for our independence,” he said mentioning that collective sacrifices rendered by thousands of people helped the establishment of a separate Muslim state in South Asia.
Later on, Prof M Umer Farooq also distributed gifts and cash among resourceless patients under treatment at the university’s hospital.
Senior faculty members and administrative officers, heads of various faculties and departments of DUHS also offered special prayers for peace and prosperity of the country.
