Asif lauds Pak army’s role in fight against terrorism

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Defence Khawaja Muhammad Asif on Thursday lauded role of Pakistan Army in combating war on terror to maintain peace in the country.

Pakistan army was conducting successful operation in North Waziristan Agency (NWA) and also providing basic amenities to internally displaced persons (IDPs), he said while taking to a private TV channel.

He said that Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Raheel Sharif met today and discussed the current situation of the country.

To a question, he said Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan had given controversial statements, urging party supporters to not pay taxes, which is an ‘unconstitutional’ step.
