Protection of Pakistan Bill to control extra judicial killings

ISLAMABAD: State Minister for Interior Baligh-ur-Rehman has said that Protection of Pakistan Bill-2014 has been approved by the Parliament after taking all stakeholders and political parties on board.

Talking to Radio Pakistan, he said the promulgation of PPB is also the part of the steps taken to control law and order situation in the country.

Responding to a question, the Minister said PML-N government believes in uniformity and complete enforcement of laws. He added that the proposed laws have sufficient provision to control not only lawlessness but also extra judicially killings and illegal detention of an accused.

Baligh-ur-Rehman further said the Act will be implemented for the two years. He said the law was formulated not for political revenge but it aims to eradicate terrorism and crime from the country.

Barrister Zafarullah Khan, commenting on the issue said the Protection of Pakistan Bill 2014 will control terrorism in the country.

He said the proposed bill has sufficient provisions to deal with crimes in appropriate way. He said this was an important step taken by the government to find solution to terrorism problem in the country.

Responding to a question, Zafarullah Khan said similar laws are introduced in developed country like UK and US to deal with terrorism.
