This mega project commenced in March 2007 by Prof. Rasheed Jooma, former Professor of Neurosurgery. He by his efforts and struggle persuaded Al-Ameena Adaya to donate Rs. 28 Million for the construction of the building.
Later Prof. Tariq Mahmood, the Executive Member of Patients Aid Foundation PAF continued the project. Cyber Knife Robotic Surgery is a revolutionary technique which can save the lives of thousands of cancer patients.
This whole body Stereotactic Radio Surgery (SRS) is not available in any public or private sector hospital of the country. This technique cannot only treat cancers but can also be used for curative treatment of many non-cancerous conditions and functional disorders.
Over twenty thousand patients need this treatment every year but only two hundred fifty make it somehow to travel abroad to seek this treatment. Those who fail to afford this technique suffers from the calamities and miseries of the disease.
So far over 4.1 million US dollars have been spent on this project. Yet the most astonishing thing is that this facility of robotic cyber knife surgery which has been introduced for the first time in Pakistan will be given absolutely free to the patients with a charitable will and those patients who wish to donate whatever they can will be welcomed.
Instead of the huge expenses of this mighty project the PAF and JPMC have worked out its running and maintenance cost for the next ten years. But yet to sustain this facility without any hindrance they need one thousand members who can contribute one thousand dollar every year.
Anyone can contribute to this noble effort; they can be individuals, philanthropists, corporate sector of NGOs. Who else have the will to donate some of their wealth then look towards this institution because your heartfelt contributions can save millions of lives and will make sure that no patient is refused treatment due to non-availability of funds.
