Ibn Mas’oad narrates that Prophet Mohammad (SAW) said. “Whoever reads one letter of the book of Allah is credited with one blessing and one blessing is equal to tenfold the like thereof in its reward. I do not say that (Alif Laam Meem) is one letter, but (Alif) is one letter, (Laam) is one letter and (Meem) is one letter.”
These golden words enlighten the significance and rewards of recitation of holy Qur’an. Its rewards and blessings are manifold throughout the year but in Ramadan the reward of every good deed is doubled. Ramadan is the divine Islamic month when Qur’an was revealed and bestowed upon Muslims giving them a complete guidance and criterion for leading an optimal life. And thus the importance of reading and pondering over the Qur’an in the month of Ramadan is even more significant. Huge emphasis is made upon recitation of Quran at many places in Sunnah and Holy Quran preaching people to read Quran as much as one can in this month of Ramadan.
Ramadan is the month when every Muslim strives and prays to earn the optimum blessings from Almighty Allah. So, one who has this noble aim should spend most of the quality time of this month in reciting Qur’an and understanding the divine teachings that it delivers.
