It is so rightly said that “Na bijli Na Paani , phir bhi Dil hy Pakistani.”
Pakistanis should be saluted at the degree of their patience and tolerance not only whole year round but also in the month of Ramadan when they have to stay empty stomached from dawn to dusk while summer heat is taking its toll.
Despite of all the assurances by the Water Management, the Karachiites are facing acute shortage of water when the demand for this basic necessity has already doubled and similar is the situation of other cities of Pakistan.
Load shedding and scarcity of gas were insufficient so this new grievance of water shortage has entered into the arena of problems to add to the miseries and unrest of this already deprived and poverty-stricken nation. Yet they have gripped the rope of patience and forbearance.
I myself know quite a number of people who are making personal contributions to get water tankers in order to get rid of their house hold chores as water is a pre requisite of various daily routine tasks at Iftari and Sehri.
The government must empathize with the masses and provide relief to them from the daily blackouts and water crises at least during this month of worship rather than taking their endurance for granted.
