ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif Monday apprised the National Assembly that Zarb-e-Azb operation had been launched to purge the country of terrorism, which would surely lead to peace and stability.
By the will of Allah Almighty, Zarb-e-Azb would continue till achievement of the ultimate objective, said the Prime Minister in a policy statement in the Senate and National Assembly.
He recalled that on January 29 this year, he announced to give peace a chance and also constituted a committee to hold constructive peace dialogue with the militants, which was also endorsed by the House.
He said he also called for an end to terror activities to ensure the dialogue process succeed as terrorism and peace could not go along.
He said it was a matter of regret and gloom that despite exercise of great patience by the government, the carnage of children, women and men continued, with acts of destruction from Islamabad district courts to Karachi airport.
“We were left with no other option. We have given priority to peace, to make the motherland a cradle of peace,” he noted.
