SC to uphold constitution’s supermacy: Jillani

LAHORE: Chief Justice of Pakistan Tassaduq Hussain Jillani has said that the Supreme Court will abide by its oath to uphold the supremacy of the constitution.

Addressing a ceremony organised by Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) to recognise services of senior lawyers here on Wednesday, the chief justice said that supremacy of judiciary was not possible only by words but through passions which was expressed by the bar.

Appreciating the commitment expressed by participants for supremacy of law, the chief justice termed it a good omen and said that it would help in ensuring supremacy of constitution and law in the country.

The chief justice also appreciated LHCBA president and other office bearers for holding ceremony to recognise services of the senior lawyers. He said that living nations
always remembers their seniors and personalities.

Earlier, the chief justice gave away shields and certificates to almost 80 senior lawyers in recognition of their services.

Justice Nasir-ul-Mulk, LHC Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial, LHC Chief Justice designate Justice Khawaja Imtiaz Ahmad and President LHCBA Shafqat Mehmood Chohan also
addressed the ceremony.

LHC judges and a large number of lawyers attended the ceremony.
