Qadri wants to divert Govt focus from war, IDPs: Abid Sher

MULTAN: State Minister for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali has said that Dr Tahirul Qadri wanted to divert
government’s attention from war against terrorists and Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) but it would never shift its focus to Qadri’s agenda.

Addressing a press conference at Mepco office, he said that country was in a state of war and the incumbent government was backing Pakistan Army.

He said, had Dr Qadri been allowed to move to Lahore by road, there could have been any security risk and in case of any
security problem, people would have pointed fingers on the government.

He alleged that Dr Tahirul Qadri was doing politics on dead bodies. About model town tragic incident, Abid Sher Ali said that the government wanted transparent investigation into the incident.

He, however, added that Dr Tahirul Qadri had also launched protest against PML-N government in 1990 and 1996.
During PML-N tenures, the country’s institutions and economy got strengthened.

But, some people preferred political point-scoring over country’s prosperity. He added that Chaudhry Brothers and
Sheikh Rashid were political orphans.

To a question about Gullu Butt, Abid Sher Ali stated that Butt was a national enemy.

Abid Sher Ali also urged the media to focus on war against terrorism and the plight of IDPs rather than focusing any agenda of a foreigner (Qadri).
