PESHAWAR: Firing by unknown gunmen at a PIA flight traveling from Riyad to Peshawar left 1 woman passenger dead and 3 people included 3 flight stewards injured at Bacha Khan International Airport here late Tuesday night, Aaj News reported.
PIA flight PK 756 enroute Peshawar from Riyadh Saudi Arabia was fired upon two minutes before landing at Peshawar Airport, killing one woman and injuring two flight stewards Wajid and Ijaz.
Injured flight steward Wajid who sustained bullet wounds on his leg said that the plane was at an altitude of 250 to 300 feet height when gunshot hit the plane at the rear side.
Luckily Captain Tariq Chaudhry safely landed the plan at airport and averted a big catastrophe.
The firing was done probably from Tehkal area side, he said. He told that his colleague Flight steward Ijaz received three bullet in his body and shifted to CMH Peshawar.
Meanwhile the Peshawar bound flight coming from Kualalumpur was diverted to Lahore airport as the PIA authorities immediately suspended flight operation from the Peshawar airport.
The security forces immediately started search operation in the suspected areas around the airport to nab the culprits.
Governor KPK Sardar Mehtab Ahmed Khan and CM Pervez Khatak strongly condemned this attack, and showed their sympathy to the family of deceased woman.
