NAB arrest food officials for misappropriation of Rs70mn

QUETTA: National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Balochistan has arrested two officials of the Food Department for misappropriation of 26,162 wheat bags worth millions of rupees, NAB sources told APP on Wednesday.

The detainees committed embezzlement from Dera Murad Jamali godowns in 2012 causing Rs70 million to the national exchequer.

“NAB has filed a reference against Assistant Food Controller Amir Bakhsh Khosa and Assistant Director Saeed Ahmed Mengal in the Accountability Court,” sources said.

He said that following the reports, of missing wheat bags in Dera Murad Jamali godown, NAB formed a team to probe into the matter.

The investigation revealed that a total of 26,162 wheat bags, worth Rs70 million, were missing.

Shortly after finding clues, the Food officials were arrested and reference was filed.
