Jail’s security beefed up in Balochistan

QUETTA: Security of the Balochistan’s jails have been beefed up to avoid any untoward incident.

Inspector General of Balochistan Prisons Bashir Bangulzai said additional personnel of law enforcement agencies have been deployed at and around all six jails of the province.

“On the directives of the Home department, new security plan has been chalked out for the jails,” he said.

He noted that Central Jail Mach, District Jail Quetta, Central Jail Gadani and Central Jail Khuzdar have been declared sensitive where security men equipped with latest weapons are on high alert.

“We have requested the deployment of Frontier Corps outside the Mach jail from the provincial government,” he said adding response from the home department is awaited in this connection.

About the number of prisoners in Balochistan, the IG said that there are over 300 hardened criminals in the jails while the other inmates numbered over 3,000.

He said that there were no loopholes in the fresh security plan evolved in the wake of terror attacks in Karachi and Taftan.
