Good governance, stable economy, top most priorities of Govt: Pervaiz Rashid

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage Senator Pervaiz Rashid has said that good governance and stable economy with peaceful environment, were the top most priorities of the present government so that the people could enjoy fruits of democracy.

He said that the present government, under the dynamic leadership and vision of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, was working on the production of energy through coal, hydel, gas and other resources for providing cheap electricity to the masses.

In an interview to a TV channel, he said that Nandipur, Bhasha, Dasu, Neelum-Jhelum and other projects would be completed in near future to generate 24,000 mega watt electricity for the consumers.

To a question, he said that PML-N government was making all out efforts to wipe out corruption, power theft and streamline the power distribution system through better and effective management.

He said that in the past, corruption and bad governance used to be the favourite topic of talk-shows on different television channels but now things have remarkably changed.

He said that incidents of terrorism and drone attacks had also reduced due to the strategy of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

Replying to a question, the Information Minister said that international community including China, United Kingdom and other European countries had welcomed the visit of PM Nawaz Sharif to India.

The visit had removed the deadlock and opened doors for talks in near future to resolve all outstanding issues, held pending between the two neighboring states, he added.

He said that Kabul also commended Pakistan for protecting its borders due to which elections in Afghanistan were held peacefully.

The Minister said that Pakistan had a clear policy to work for peace in the region, besides promotion of good relations with neighboring countries.

To a question, he said that some elements did not want to see Pakistan as prosperous and peaceful nation.

He urged religious scholars, civil society, media, and political parties to come forward and educate the people for promoting harmony, peace and tolerance to make progress in every field of life.

Replying to another question, he said that Mutahidda Qaumi Movement (MQM) workers and politicians should play positive role in maintaining peace and resolving the problems of the masses in Karachi.

He said that media, judiciary and other national institutions were independent and performing their role in accordance with the law of the land.

Pervaiz Rashid said that the Parliament was the right forum to discuss the issues and resolve the matters with consensus.

He emphasized the need for using right place to discuss the national matters or issues so that the problems could be addressed in a proper manner.
