Baby Tiarna Midleton was christened with her family around her just hours before she died and she looked amazing in the white frill dress which her mom had picked up for her.
Tiarna was suffering from Hypoplastic Right Heart Syndrome (HRHS) and she was claimed to be the smallest and the youngest child in the world to be fitted with a Berlin heart by a surgeon at Freeman Hospital at Newcastle. She underwent the surgery 12 days after her birth.
The doctors revealed that her coronary arteries had also failed to form in the womb, whereas the artificial heart would buy her some vital time, but her complications turned out worst. After six days of the surgery, she was diagnosed with lung problem and her health conditions declined.
It was the time, when Tiarna’s mother and other family members decided to remove her off from the life support system.
Tiarna’s mother Sharney said that she was looking great in that white dress with a band on her head. She opened her eyes and smiled. She was looking very cute. All the family members gave her lots of kisses and cuddles. She looked even much healthier than she was on the life support system, with all the machines, wires and drugs covering her since her birth on May 22.
For a while, Sharney thought that she can’t let go her daughter but she has done everything she could do and even the doctors had applied every possible medication in her case, but without the life support system, all her life it was not possible for her to live. She was loosing her health and she had no time. She was in pain.
She was christened in the hospital, when the doctors turned off her life support system and four and a half hour later she was given to the god parents at 4pm on June 9. Her funeral ceremony was held at St. Patrick Church, High Spen on June 16.
