LAHORE: An anti-terrorism court on Wednesday ordered to discharge names of 11 women and two elderly men of Pakistan Awami Tehreek, arrested for protesting against Model Town incident at Shahdara, from FIRs.
The court also sent 16 accused involved in same incident to jail on a 14-day judicial remand.
Earlier, the Shahdara police produced 11 women and 18 men before the ATC Judge Rai Ayub Marth in strict security.
The accused’s counsel submitted that the accused were protesting against Model Town incident at Shahdara but the police arrested them and registered terrorism cases against them without any base.
However, the investigation officer sought physical remand of the accused.
But, the court rejected police request and ordered to discharge names of 11 women and two elderly man from FIRs.
The court also ordered to sent the 16 accused to jail on 14-day judicial remand.
The said 16 accused also moved bail applications and the court issued notices to SHO Shahdara Town and SHO Shahdara Morh for June 19.
