Michaele Hutchings, 23, who went on a huge shopping spree after getting £52,000 by mistake in her bank account is likely expected to face jail, if she does not pay back £5,733, she still owes.
Michaele Hutchings has six months to repay the money she owes or she would likely face 20 months in jail, Stafford Police revealed.
Hutching has also been given 12-month community order, whereas she was ordered by the court to carry out 150 hours unpaid work. A confiscation hearing at the court has ordered her to repay £52,465.21 – the £51,821.34 bank transfer plus £643.87 interest.
Huctings from that money went for shopping spree, in which she bought £9000 of designer shoes, handbags and sunglasses, whereas she also gave £1000 to her her mother and put £40,000 into saving accounts before the police caught her on April 24 last year.
The police spokesman revealed that several of the thing Hutching bought were refunded, whereas several things will be auctioned in order to help her pay confiscation order.
She said after her conviction: “All this is my fault and I feel so sorry. I put my family in a position where they are being looked down on by everyone.
“I’m sorry but before you judge me put yourself in my shoes.”
