Waqar’s appointment upsets Mohsin

KARACHI: Former Pakistan Test opener and chief coach Mohsin Khan was upset with the appointment of Waqar Younis as the head coach of national team by Pakistan Cricket Board. PCB Tuesday announced Waqar as the head coach of Pakistan team for two year term.

Talking to a private channel on Tuesday evening, Mohsin Khan, who had also applied as the head coach of Pakistan said he will hold a press conference at Karachi Press Club or elsewhere in this behalf.

Mohsin Khan, who helped Pakistan to make a 3-0 clean-sweep against world number one England in Test series as the head coach, refused to further discuss the issue at the moment.

It was however interesting to note that the PCB announced Waqar’s appointment against their own advertisement that short-listed candidates will invited for an interview which was not done.

In the meantime former Pakistan Test off-spinner Saqlain Mushtaq, who had also applied for the chief coach as well for bowling coach wished Waqar Younis good luck in assignment.

“To be honest I have no idea because no one called me for interview,” Saqlain Mushtaq, who served the West Indies as their spin bowling coach during ICC World T20 held in Bangladesh.

West Indies spin-bowling duo of Samuel Badree and Sunil Narine played a pivotal role in bowling their team a massive 84-run victory over Pakistan which send them crushing out of the event in the league rounds.
