LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has directed that anti-polio campaign be pursued vigorously in the province and vaccination of every child be ensured.
He was presiding over a high level meeting to review anti-polio campaign, here on Tuesday. He said that no negligence or dereliction would be tolerated in this regard.
The Chief Minister said that the eradication of polio necessary for safeguarding the future of the nation. He said that vaccination of children be carried out on war-footing.
He said that in addition to administrative machinery, elected representative should also take an active part in the campaign.
He directed that special arrangements be made at airports, railways stations and bus stands for administering polio drops.
He said that federal and provincial governments would have to work jointly to make Pakistan a polio-free country.
He directed that special attention be paid to eradication of polio from the temporary dwellings of gypsies. The Chief Minister expressed indignation over the detection of positive environmental sample in Lahore and said that curbing of causes of polio virus was also essential. Advisor on Health Kh.Salman Rafiq and Parliamentary Secretary Health Kh. Imran Nazir were also present.
