Salman Bashir terms PM’s visit to India as most important

ISLAMABAD: Former foreign secretary and high commissioner to India, Salman Bashir has said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s visit to India has immense importance.

Talking to a private news channel, he said that previous governments of both the countries tried to have cordial relations. Salman Bashir said that both the countries could enjoy good
relations if they continue holding meetings on secretary level regarding the existing mechanisms to cope with terrorism, narcotics, drugs and crimes.

He also said that these were not only problems of the two countries but of the entire region keeping in view the geo-strategic position of Pakistan and India.

He further said that Pakistan and India should work jointly for the development, stability and prosperity of the region.

He hoped that both the countries would keep aside all the allegations they levelled against each other in the past and would look at all the matters in a positive way because their problems are common.
