Nawabshah: 4.5 magnitude of earthquake kills one, injures 50

NAWABSHAH: At least one person was reported dead and 50 others sustained injuries, when a 4.5 magnitude of earthquake jolted Nawabshah and its surrounding areas.

According to the reports, the 4.5 magnitude of earthquake knocked Nawabshah and its surrounding areas at about 3:55 AM. The epicenter of the earthquake was 27 km North East of Nawabshah with depth of 15 km.

The intensity of the quake forced to damage various houses, whereas the aftershocks continued to jolt the quake-hit-area.

The rescue sources revealed that one person was critically injured and succumbed to his injuries, whereas 50 other persons sustained injuries. The dead body and the injured persons, including women and children were shifted to the nearest hospitals, whereas an emergency was declared in all the hospitals of the district after the quake.

On the other hand, Deputy Commissioner, Irfan Kathia after observing the damages and destruction’s of the intensive quake announced that the schools will remain closed today in the district.
