MQM representatives demand special package for Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: The MQM MNA and MPAs have demanded of the federal and provincial governments to announce special package of rupees two billions for the development of Hyderabad city and Latifabad talukas.

Addressing a news conference here at Hyderabad Press Club on Saturday MNA Waseem Hussain, MPAs Rashid Khilji, Sabir Qaimkhani, Zubair Ahmed Khan, Dilawar Qureshi and Rana Ansar said that special attention is required for addressing the issues of Hyderabad.

At present, no development grant is being provided to Hyderabad Development Authority, Water and Sanitation Agency and municipal corporation and the affairs of these organizations are being run through district administration, they said.

They pointed out that efforts were being made again to create a new district of Matli by merging four Union Councils of Hyderabad Taluka Rural despite the fact that such efforts were failed in the past after stay granted by the apex court. One Hyderabad was going to become Metropolitan Corporation but the district was bifurcated in many districts in the past, they said and added that such bifurcation had damaged Hyderabad.

They informed that MPAs raised issues of Hyderabad including lawlessness and encroachments in the assembly but nothing had been done to resolve these issues. The federal and provincial government should pay immediate attention towards the issues of Hyderabad, they demanded and urged the Governor Sindh to play his role in this respect.
