ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting and National Heritage Senator Pervaiz Rashid Wednesday said media should focus on promoting women rights by highlighting their issues and concerns.
Pervaiz Rashid, who also holds the portfolio of Law, Justice and Human Rights stated this in a meeting with members of the National Commission on the Status of Women headed by Khawar Mumtaz, Chairperson of the Commission here.
He said the present democratic government is committed to ensure the women empowerment as their participation will not only help in the sustainable development but would also raise the true and democratic image of Pakistan.
“We believe in awarding them equal opportunities in all spheres of public activities without any discrimination,” the minister emphasized.
He said that the Ministry of Law, Justice and Human Rights is making all out efforts to safeguard the women rights in collaboration with all relevant stakeholders.
He urged the media to raise public awareness regarding women issues as it would help them in playing a proactive role.
Khawar Mumtaz briefed the Minister regarding the functioning of NCSW and discussed various issues pertaining to the effective working of the commission.
The minister assured the members regarding the resolution of their issues.
