KARACHI: A vaccination campaign against measles is being launched in 29 districts of Sindh from May 19 (Monday), in which 13,269,690 children between 6 months to 10 years of age will be vaccinated.
This was stated by Sindh Health Minister Dr. Saghir Ahmed at a press briefing about the prevalence of measles, here on Sunday.
The minister said that the campaign, which will continue till May 31, will be inaugurated by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah. Dr. Saghir Ahmed said that 133 confirmed cases of measles have been reported in Sindh this year so far, with 14 deaths, which include
13 deaths in district Thatta.
He appealed to the people to get their children vaccinated against measles. He said that, for the success of the campaign, it is necessary that people from different walks of life play their role. He particularly urged the media to create public awareness about benefits of vaccination.
