KARACHI: Pakistan top chess player International Master Mahmood Lodhi will play against 40 boys and girls in simultaneous chess at Russian Cultural Centre on Tuesday from 3pm onward.
The event is being staged by Mind Sports Association of Pakistan (MSAP) in collaboration with Pakistan Chess Players Association.
“We want to promote the game among the school kids,” PCPA Secretary General and IM Shahzad Mirza told APP on Friday.
He said it will be big occasion for boys and girls to play against a record 14-time National Champion Mahmood Lodhi. “Lodhi is keen to popularize and boost the game among the youth in order to raise the standard of chess in Pakistan,” Mirza, who had qualified for this year’s chess Olympiad being staged in Norway in August.
“I am eagerly looking forward to this exciting event,” Pakistan best-ever chess player, Lodhi commented.
“I had played simultaneous chess for a couple of times in nineties.But this first after almost 16 years,” Mahmood Lodhi, who will be featuring in record-breaking 12th Chess Olympiad, added.
Mahmood Lodhi has already in the city at the invitation of MSAP.
