PESHAWAR: Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami and Finance Minister Khyber Pakthunkhwa, Sirajul Haq said on Friday the Provincial Govt has given high priority to social sectors in the budget 2014-15 keeping its growth oriented role to bring positive improvement in lives of people.
Addressing the pre-budget consultative workshop here at a local hotel, the Minister said Govt would provide equal funds to all districts of the province and priority to social sectors including education, health, environment and development activities.
He said Pakistan would be made Islamic welfare state as envisioned by our forefathers where every person have access to quality education, better health services and get dignified jobs.
The Finance Minister sought the supports of government and opposition members of KP assembly in getting net hydel power profit in order to allocate more funds for developmental projects in KP.
Major share of the budget, he said, are being spent on payment of salaries to govt employees while very little amount are saved for development schemes and public expenditure.
He said adjusting funds allocation for all sectors was indeed a very difficult task, adding problems in KP are more than provincial resources, however, all the issues would be addressed with support of people and lawmakers.
He said equal funds would be given to all districts of KP irrespective of political strength and affiliation and efforts would be made to give priority to less developed and backwards areas to bring at par with developed parts of the province.
The finance minister expressed pleasure over Rs. 1.5 billion award to KP that reflection of its effective financial management and excellent planning by his Ministry.
Earlier, Secretary Finance Said Badshah Bokhari and Secretary Planning and Development Aftab Akbar Durrani appraised the participants about the salient features of the budget 2014-15 and appreciated the role of Finance Department in preparation of the budget.
