ISLAMABAD: The All Pakistan CNG Association (APCNGA) on Friday expressed reservations over the new CNG schedule in Punjab, which it claimed, would add to the problems of people and station owners.
The new two-day schedule was not acceptable, said association’s chairman Ghiyas Paracha in a statement here.
According to SNGPL’s new schedule, gas will be available from May 11 (6 am) to May 12 (6 am), and from May 14 (6 am) to May 15 (6 am) in Lahore, Sheikhupura, Sahiwal, Multan, Gujranawala, Gujrat, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Bahawalpur regions.
Piracha said the association representatives in a recent meeting told the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) officials that masses, traders and industrialists were using gas generators and the CNG sector should also be allowed to use the same so that the people could get fuel during electricity loadshedding.
He complained though the pressure in gas pipelines increased in the summer but it was low in some areas. He called for allowing CNG stations to work for eight hours daily instead of six and for 18 hours on Sundays and Wednesdays.
He said a meeting of the association had been convened on Tuesday to discuss a future strategy.
