PESHAWAR: Three days anti-polio drive has been kicked off in all seven Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) and six frontier regions (FRs) on Monday amid tight security arrangements.
The anti-polio vaccinators will immunize children below five years of age in the whole tribal region as target population remains 0.690 million in FATA.
Strict security measures have been taken for the polio teams. Two levy officials will accompany each team in most sensitive areas while one official in less sensitive areas.
It is relevant to mention here that 46 polio cases have been recorded from FATA so far in 2014 out of which 39 are from North Waziristan agency, 4 from south Waziristan agency, 01 from Khyber while two are reported from FR Bannu.
