Zardari visits Thar, briefed on relief measures

MITHI: Former president and Co-Chairman PPP, Asif Ali Zardari said that all Reverse Osmosis (RO) plants should be made functional to ensure safe drinking water for the people of Thar.

He said this during his visit to RO plant near Thar Coal office here, said a statement released on Friday by district information department.

“If any RO plant is not functional due to various reasons, it should be made functional on emergency basis”, he directed Chief Operating Officer, Irshad Hussain.

He said that Thari people could spend healthy life, if the availability of safe drinking water was ensured. Speaking on the occasion, Chief Operating Officer RO Plant, Irshad Hussain briefed Asif Zardari that the RO plant could filter 75000 gallon water which was sufficient for 25000 to 30000 people there.

“There are 48 RO plants which are working for providing safe drinking water in the district Tharparkar and the work is under progress for installation of 25 RO plants which would be soon completed to make them functional, he said.

Earlier, Co-chairman PPP visited civil hospital Mithi where he inquired about facilities being provided to patients and also met indoor patients.

He also directed concerned officials to ensure basic and all necessary medical facilities to patients especially children and women. Later, he also visited medical camp established by Baharia Town where he was briefed that four mobile teams were working for providing medical facilities to patients including special persons.

Chief Minister Sindh, Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Sindh Information Minister, Sharjeel Inam Memon, Sindh Minister for Livestock, Jam Khan Shoro, Sindh Minister for Zakat, Dost Ali Rahmo, MNA Faqeer Sher Bilalani, MPA Dr. Mahesh Kumar Malani and other district officials were present on the occasion.
