Youths are torch bearers of Pak-China friendship: Masood Khalid

BEIJING: Ambassador Masood Khalid has said that youths from both the countries are the torch bearers and have the responsibility to take forward the legacy of Pak-China friendship that built up over past 60-years.

Addressing a reception at Pakistan Embassy here Thursday evening, hosted for the 100-member youths delegation on the penultimate day of their week-long visit to China, Ambassador Khalid said that China is a trusted friend and has always supported Pakistan in time of need.

He said that Pakistan and China have declared the 2015 year of Friendship and in this regard a number of events are being chalked to celebrate the year in befitting manner.

On the reciprocal basis, a youth delegation from China will also visit Pakistan next year.

“Under the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, the present government was making every effort to further deepen our relations”, he noted.

China was extending all out help to Pakistan in diverse fields particularly in energy sector, he said adding the Pak-China economic corridor is one of the important projects that will change the fortune of millions of masses.

Work on implementation on various segments of the corridor is in advance stage, he said.

The Embassy of China in Pakistan in coordination with the Pakistan mission in Beijing were making every endeavour to attract both private and public sector Chinese entrepreneurs to make investment in Pakistan, he noted.

He said that during visit you might have developed friendship with your Chinese counterparts and when you go back home keep in contact with them as this will help inculcating friendship with Chinese youths.

On the occasion prizes were also distributed among the members of the youth delegation who participated in photo competition.

The delegation visited China as per decision taken by Pakistan and China during the Chinese President Hu Jintao?s official visit to Pakistan in 2006.
