Van catches fire near Rawalpindi, kills five passengers

RAWALPINDI: As many as five passengers were killed and three others injured when a van erupted fire on Chakri road near Chak Jalal on late Friday night, Aaj News reported.

According to the report, Toyota Hi-S was full of passengers, who were going from Rawalpindi to Chak Jalal village, some 45 kilometer from Rawalpindi, to get participate in a wedding ceremony. Meanwhile, the van caught fire due to short circuit, as a result of which, 5 persons killed on the spot while 3 got severe injuries.

Rescue teams reached on the spot.

The dead and injured were being shifted to a nearby hospital.
