US to provide 40 m dollars for Pakistani Universities : Envoy

MUZAFFARABD: United States (US) Ambassador to Pakistan Richard Olson Thursday expressed his Government’s commitment to provide 40 million dollars to Pakistani universities this year.

Addressing a function here after the stone-breaking of a block to be constructed by the US Aid Agency for the Faculty of Education, Olson said that US was providing 40 million dollars to Pakistani Universities to strengthen education training facilities.

The ceremony was also attended by President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Sardar Muhammad Yaqoob Khan, Vice Chancellor AJK University Professor Dil Nawaz Gardezi, US AIDS chief in Pakistan Miss Nancy and others.

Olson also emphasized on women’s empowerment and entrepreneurship in Pakistan during his visit to an exhibition of traditional handicrafts made by women in AJK which was organized by Social Welfare Department.

He visited Muzafarabad’s historical and cultural fort, known as Rutta Qilla, besides a brief meeting with President AJK at his office during his day-long visit to Muzaffarabad.
