Talks with Taliban likely not to succeed: Aitzaz Ahsan

LAHORE: Aitzaz Ahsan, senior leader of PPP, has said that peace talks with Taliban would not bear fruitful results as Taliban will never fall back from their ultimate demand to impose the Shariah, Aaj News reports

While talking to media men in Lahore, Aitezaz Ahsan said that his party supported the on-going peace talks with Taliban, however they were not expecting any positive outcome from these talks as it wasn’t possible for the Government to release all the prisoners and for the Taliban to drop their demand to impose the Shariah.

He added that incumbent Government had the mandate to conduct peace talks and his party backed the move to initiate peace talks.

To a question, he said recalling the ’35 puncture story’, attached with massive rigging in NA-124, that after the examination of polling record, only one ‘leaked puncture’ would be proven true.
