Rule of law, democracy basic requirements for economic stability: Ahsan Iqbal

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Reforms Ahsan Iqbal on Wednesday said that rule of law and continuity of democratic process is necessary for economic growth and stability in the country.

While addressing an overseas Pakistanis convention here on Wednesday, Ahsan Iqbal said that political stability is must for prosperity and development.

He said that countries like China, Malaysia and South Korea designed their decades long vision and transformed them into reality, which resulted in progress and economic development of these countries.

The Minister said that the government has laid strong foundation of economic development in the last nine months and by 2025, Pakistan will be among top of big economies.

He added the government was in process of finalizing the Vision 2025, which will be the vision of Pakistan.

Ahsan Iqbal said that overseas Pakistanis have played important roll in the country’s economy and are contributing to enhance the foreign reserve for economic growth.

He stressed to enhance the capacity of overseas education institution and provide quality education to the young generation of overseas Pakistanis.

The Minister said that international community has accepted sound economic policies and reforms of the current regime adding that “We attracted the foreign investors for economic growth and enhance the business activities in the country”.

Ahsan Iqbal said that Pakistan and China extended the cooperation in energy sector and China will support us to generate 22000 MW electricity in next five years.
