OEC sent 6,384 Pakistanis abroad for employment in last five years

ISLAMABAD: The Overseas Employment Corporation (OEC) has sent 6,384 Pakistanis abroad during last five years for the purpose of employment.

Out of 6,384 sent abroad in last five years, 3,785 workers belonged to Punjab, 1,501 from Sindh, 794 from Khyber Pakhtunkhawa, 77 from Balochistan, 57 Azad Jammu and Kashmir, 9 from Gilgit-Baltistan, 43 were from Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) and 118 from Federal Areas of Islamabad.

The selection of workers for employment abroad was carried out by the foreign employers, an official in the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development told APP.

The Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment have sent over seven million Pakistani workers abroad from 1971-2013 for employment, he added.
