NAB arrests ex-DG PHA in Rs400mn corruption case

ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has arrested Javed Ahmad, ex-DG Provincial Housing Authority (PHA), Naveed Qadir, ex-Land Acquisition Collector and Muhammad Asif Frontman for their involvement in embezzlement of more than Rs 400 million.

The accused persons managed to pocket more than Rs. 400 million on the pretext of land acquisition for the Provincial Housing Authority (PHA) Housing Scheme at Moza Darwaza Nathiagali, in 2012.

Interestingly, the payment for said land was not even approved by the competent authority,said a press release here.

The PHA also initiated scheme without obtaining NOC from Forest Deptt/Galiat Development Authority (GDA) and without preparing a feasibility report, which was a pre-requisite, thus abusing the authority.

Award of Rs. 261 million announced by Land Acquisition Collector for the unapproved land and for that an amount to the tune of Rs. 400 Million was paid that to a planted person (Frontman) namely Muhammad Asif instead of original land owners with the intention to embezzle the public money.
