Musharraf files petition to remove his name from ECL

KARACHI: Former President, General (retd) Pervez Musharraf’s legal team on Monday filed a petition in Sindh High Court (SHC), to remove Musharraf’s name from the Exit Control List (ECL).

According to the sources, the claim filed in SHC mentioned that any court up till now have not argued on Musharraf’s movement from one place to another, by keeping these things in mind, the restriction on Musharraf for traveling abroad should be removed.

It is pertinent to know that Musharraf’s name in the ECL list was included on April 5, 2013 by the Interior Ministry to guarantee that Musharraf could not leave the country during his hearings.

Meanwhile, Musharraf’s lawyer, Dr. Farogh Naseem requested the court to hear the case, in regard to the application on an urgent level.

Musharraf was earlier charged for imposing an emergency law on November 3, 2007, whereas apart from treason trail case, he was also charged in Benazir Bhutto and Akbar Bugti’s murder cases.
