India wants to push more troops in IOK in guise of sham polls: Mirwaiz

ISLAMABAD: All Parties Hurriyet Conference Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, has said that under the pretext of holding farcical elections India wants to push more troops in the territory.

The APHC Chairman addressing a gathering in Srinagar said that by doing so Indian establishment wanted to muzzle the voice of genuine leadership and liberation movement through its military might, KMS reported.

“Movements across the globe are witness that military might had to bow before public aspirations,” he said.

The Mirwaiz called upon the international community to impress upon India to pull out its troops from Kashmir and refrain from sending more troops in the territory. He said that occupied Kashmir was already considered as the world’s highest militarized zone.

“This is our land and our area and yet Indian Army has set up its bases, constructed huts, training camps and artillery ranges. And the irony is that this is happening before the eyes of those who claim to be champions of democracy and protectors of Jammu and Kashmir,” he added.

The APHC Chairman while supporting the demand for non-extension to the lease of Tosa Maidan in Badgam to the Indian army said that New Delhi was trying to institutionalize the presence of its armed forces in the territory by acquiring more land at a time when it already has 71,500 acres under its illegal occupation.
