China supporting Pakistan in energy sector: Dr. Saboor Ahmad

ISLAMABAD: Renowned economist Dr. Saboor Ahmad said that China was taking the utmost interest in investment in energy and economic sectors in Pakistan.

Talking to PTV, he said that meeting of Pak-China Working Group on Tuesday discussed joint energy and economic corridor projects.

He said that Pakistan and China had conformity of interests and Pakistan was deficient in energy sector and China was trying to support Pakistan in this sector. Dr. Saboor said that it was welcoming that political leadership of both countries had power of will to take the ongoing projects forward for the benefit of both the countries.

He said that visit of South Korean Prime Minister to Pakistan indicated international investor’s confidence on the economic policies of the government.

He further said that other countries were trying to follow the footprints set by China and showing interest to invest in Pakistan. Dr. Ayub Mehr, a prominent economist also said that the proposed road from Gwadar to Kashgar will bring prosperity to the whole region.
Establishment of a special cell in Prime Minister’s Office will facilitate all Chinese projects in infrastructure development and energy sectors, he added.

Dr. Sohaib Ahmed, an energy expert, said Pakistan and China have deep-rooted relations. Regular meetings of Pak-China working group will greatly help boost Chinese investment in Pakistan.

Better project management is necessary for the success of foreign projects in Pakistan, he added.
