Bank lockers looted in soldier bazar, FIR registered

KARACHI: FIR has been registered in Soldier Bazar police station, regarding the looting and broken lockers of a private bank, which took place on Saturday night, Aaj News reports.

According to the police sources, Some armed robbers entered in a private bank, located at Soldier bazar, they initially got hold of security guard namely Barkat Ali with ropes, and than broke off at least 60 locks of the bank with gas cutters, looted 2.1 million rupees. The sources revealed that there are 1,675 lockers in the bank and the robbers managed to broke off 60 of them.

SHO Sohail said the incident took place at 8:oo pm on Saturday but the Chief Security officer of the bank Major Jahanzeb informed them about robbery on Sunday at 9:00am, worth of the robbery as yet to be ascertained, while police arrested bank guard, Barkat as a suspect of this incident, whereas a case has also been registered against him.

Meanwhile, the locker-holders and residents of the area gathered outside the bank and staged protest and threw stones at the bank’s building and staff.
