Afghan polls: Karzai casts his vote to choose his successor

Kabul: Afghan President Hamid Karzai cast his vote in the election that marks the start of his country’s first-ever democratic transfer of power, as he steps down after serving the maximum two terms in office, Aaj News reported.

According to the reports, poling in Afghanistan started Saturday morning at 7.00 A.M which will continue until evening at 4.00 P.M without break.

Karzai said after voting in a school near the presidential palace in Kabul,”I cast my vote, I feel happy and proud as a citizen of Afghanistan.”

Chief Afghan Election Commissioner was the first cast his vote, while a long queue of the men and women voters seen waiting to cast their votes.
