14 killed, 20 injured as bus overruns in DG Khan

DERA GHAZI KHAN: As many as ten males, four females crushed by over-speeding Karachi-bound bus coming from Peshawar while more than 20 others sustained injuries here at Notuk Adda, 25 km away from the DG Khan City Thursday evening.

According to Rescue sources, the speeding bus was overtaking another vehicle when it ran over the pedestrians while they were crossing the road on Indus highway. The official said that about 14 people died on the spot while more than 20 another sustained injuries.

The pedestrians who were died identified as Ashiq Lashari, Sher Muhammad, Changwani, Bilal, Musa, Hameeda, Wahid Buksh, Ruqayya Bibi, Kalsoom Mai, Chunno Mai and others.

The injured were shifted to District Headquarters hospital.

Enraged over death of 14 precious lives, local people torched the bus on fire after forcing passengers to leave the vehicle.

Upon receiving the information, police officials concerned with heavy contingent reached at the spot. Police Thana Kot Chutta have arrested the bus driver named Meer Jan and started further investigation.
