11 Pakistanis to be released from Bagram prison in May, LHC told

LAHORE: A law officer on behalf of Foreign Ministry Friday informed the Lahore High Court that a batch of 11 Pakistanis, detained in Bagram prison, are scheduled to be released by the end of May.

The law officer made these submissions before Justice Muhammad Khalid Mehmood Khan who was hearing a petition filed by Sultana Noon for the release of Pakistanis detained at
Bagram Theatre Internment Camp in Afghanistan.

However, the petitioner’s counsel Sarah Bilal pointed out the lack of details about the identity of the next batch of Pakistani detainees due to be released.

At this stage, the court directed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to get the identities of these 11 detainees verified by NADRA and submit a report in the court within two weeks.

The court directed the ministry to immediately inform the court as soon as these 11 Pakistanis are released and repatriated besides adjourning the matter.
