The government negotiation committee finalised the plan to proceed for direct talks with Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). Sources said the new government committee comprising Secretary Ports and Shipping Habibullah Khattak, Secretary FATA Arbab Arif, Prime Minister’s Additional Secretary Fawad Hassan Fawad and Rustam Shah Mohmand, has chalked out a strategy for holding direct talks with TTP during a meeting with Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan.
They said the committee discussed in detail the demands of Taliban. The meeting was informed that Taliban had promised to disassociate themselves from the groups who did not observe cease-fire, sources said. Sources said the meeting decided that direct talks with Taliban would be held at a place within the reach of the government. The venue for direct talks with Taliban would be finalised within 48 hours, they said.
