KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Information and Local Government Sharjeel Inam Memon has said Sindh government would file a review petition regarding ruling of the Supreme Court on the issue of delimitations of constituencies in Sindh province.
Talking to the newsmen here on Monday, he said that the 18th constitutional amendment had empowered provinces and the power for carrying out delimitations were not out of the context of the provisions. Henceforth, Sindh government would file a review petition in the Supreme Court on its ruling on delimitations.
He refuted reports on winding up the ongoing targeted operation in Karachi and said that the operation was in full swing quite successfully. The crime rate in the city had declined as a result of targeted action by Police and Rangers.
Memon said that he would neither confirm nor would contradict reports about Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s return to treasury benches. MQM had been an ally to PPP in the past and there would be no harm if they decide about re-joining the treasury benches.
To a question, Sharjeel Innam Memon said that Sindh government and PPP had condemned the killings of Maqsood Qureshi, brother of former Chairman of Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz. The killing of Qureshi was a planned conspiracy to destroy peace and tranquility in Sindh.
