KARACHI: Session Judge Mithi on Tuesday revealed in Sindh High Court that hospitals in Thar lacked medical and para-medical staff and deaths of children were caused by adverse arrangements, Aaj News reported
Secretary Health also confessed to the laxity shown by the government, before the court.
A two-member bench of the Sindh High Court, headed by Chief Justice Maqbool Baqar heard the cases filed over drought in Thar and the suo-moto notice taken by the court earlier.
In a report submitted by the District and Session Judge Mithi regarding the situation in Thar, he informed the court that around 25 villages of Thar were still not being provided any relief goods as yet, adding that Doctors and para-medical staff are not present in the hospitals.
The court directed the Secretary health to submit a detailed report relating to the provision of medicines and availability of para-medical staff.
During the Hearing, Secretary Health Iqbal Durrani confessed to the court that deaths of children were caused by malnutrition and inadequate arrangements. Later, the court was adjourned until 27th March
