KARACHI: Hearing impairment due to constant exposure to noise pollution was registered to be another serious health hazard among no less than 119 street children of the city in a medical camp organized by Sahar Foundation on Sunday.
Syed Rafiq Shah, chairman of the NGO told APP Monday that senior ENT experts and general practitioners had volunteered to examine these kids aged between four to 15 and to also provide them with required support in coming days.
In reply to a question Shah said these kids were randomly selected from old city area with due care towards their free will or of their parents’ consent to be get examined.
The doctors on the occasion also conducted regular medical checkup of these children, with major focus on their physical and mental growth.
Poor nutritional status was identified to be a major triggering factor with negative impact on their resistance capacities to combat external factors that may be regulary affecting their general health, said Rafiq Shah.
