ISLAMABAD: Former Great Javed Miandad while praising the green-shirts for their splendid triumph against Australia said Pakistan must play with the same spirit in the World Twenty-20 matches to come.
Miandad said Pakistan have match-winners in their squad and should know how to utilize them. “It was a good comeback by Pakistan. It is never easy to make a comeback in shorter formats, but Pakistan showed it’s possible,” he said while talking to a private news channel.
Miandad said this total Pakistan scored will help them gain momentum for the next matches to come. “At one stage, Australia was cruising and it was a superb effort to restrict them,” he said.
Miandad praised Umar Akmal and Shahid Afridi saying they can be lethal in the death overs therefore should be made to bat then.
Former fast bowler and head coach Waqar Younis said he was impressed by Umar Akmal’s performance. “We must make take full advantage of the way Umar is batting and should look to give him even more confidence,” he said.
Waqar said Kamran Akmal played a very calculated knock as he used all his experience and stayed at the crease when he was needed. “I still feel for Sharjeel Khan as he is a great talent and is being wasted,” he said adding Shoaib Malik didn’t field well and his role is not clear to him.
While praising bowlers Shahid Afridi, Saeed Ajmal and Zulfiqar Babar, Waqar said Afridi and Ajmal bowled well under pressure when they were hit for runs,” he said adding Babar took two important wickets at the top, so he should be lauded. Waqar said Umar Gul seems to be finding his form as well.
Waqar also gave credit to the Australians for the way they batted. “They were always looking to come hard at us,” he said.
