ISLAMABAD: Spokesperson PIA Mashhood Tajwar has said that the government has decided to acquire twenty-one new passenger planes on lease to control the losses of PIA and the necessary action has been initiated in this connection.
Talking to VOA, he said tender has been issued in the newspapers for this purpose.
PIA would get two planes in July while the third plane would be acquired in September or October, he added.
He said that we would try to get the remaining eighteen planes by the end of this year or at the start of the next year.
He said after acquiring these planes, we would be able to restart the flight of those routes which have been suspended due to dearth of planes in the recent years.
He said PIA strives to increase flights for those countries where Pakistanis live in great numbers.
