ISLAMABAD: The Special Court has ordered Musharraf to appear in the Court within half an hour, otherwise appropriate orders would be charged against him, Aaj News reported.
A three judge court, headed by Justice Faisal Arab of the Sindh High Court, was hearing the case relating to treason charges against the former Military ruler.
Special Court had summoned the Former President today, but he remained absent from the court today also. Musharraf’s lawyer submitted an application in the court requesting for the former president’s exemption from today’s hearing and asking that the screening of security personnel, deployed for his security should be ordered.
Contending the application submitted, Prosecutor Akram Sheikh objected that demands for security check were nothing but delaying tactics and the presence of the accused was not necessary for the indictment.He also said that he has been threatened before the court.
Justice Faisal Arab asked Musharraf’s the indictment orders could be given in his client’s absence also and to ask his client whether he wants to appear before the court or not. Suitable orders will be given, if he failed to appear within half an hour. After which, the court was called off for half an hour.
