ISLAMABAD: The Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited(SNGPL) has constituted two committees to know facts with regard to the subversion of three gas pipelines in Rahim Yar Khan.
According to official source, the committee would thoroughly examine relevant facts including the losses to furnish a complete report and help prevent such subversive acts in future.
The official says repair work of three gas pipelines is continuing at fast pace with restoring improved gas supply to domestic sector after repairing one of three pipelines.
On Sunday three gas pipelines were blown up in Rahim Yar Khan, cutting 700 million cubic feet gas in SNPGL system for most parts of Punjab province.
The Punjab is being supplied 1150 million cubic feet gas against demand of 1700 million cubic feet gas before the subversion of the gas supply.
The official said engineers and SNGPL workers were busy in repair work and gas supply from the rest of the two gas pipelines would be completed by evening.
” Due to prevailing gas supply situation, arising from sabotage activity on gas pipelines, all the gas consumers are requested to utilize the gas only for unavoidable cooking purposes. Space and water heaters must not be used at all times, during this crisis. SNGPL is undertaking its best possible efforts to restore the gas supply at the earliest,” the official observed.
Meanwhile, All Compressed Natural Gas association has said that due to the Rahim Yar Khan incident, it supports the government and all CNG stations in SNGPL area including KPK were kept closed from Monday and these outlets would remain closed on Tuesday as well.
The spokesman said SNGPL was trying to manage smooth and uninterrupted gas supply to the consumers of Potohar region, who were facing chilly weather conditions.
